Terra

minilog There is something very "eighties" in "Terra"- a bit as if "Music for supermarkets" had crossed "White Eagle" and Depeche Mode ! But Sayer has the intelligence to combine all of this in the light of his own rhythmic and melodic sensitivity, and the result is simply ... bluffing ! Perhaps one of his best albums, where the profusion of melodic ideas competes with constantly evolving compositions, where each title conceals surprises and opens on unexpected bifurcations. A must have !

Gedfan Love it. Sayer's take on Berlin School. I only picked Rainforest as a favourite but could have added many here - Starry Night, Mountain Stream to name two more.

Excellent, thank you! Favorite track: Rainforest.

Dennis Moore Another great album by one of the best synthesists around. The track 'Hidden Waterfall' has perhaps the most beautiful main melody line I have ever heard. Favorite track: Hidden Waterfall.

about

In the months following the release of "Oceans" I struggled to create new music. Between the COVID pandemic and both social and political unrest here in my country, there was no inspiration to be found. There were many failed attemps piling up in the pojects folder of my studio computer. I had already picked the title and theme of "Terra", but was unable to create any music in support of it.

One day I went into the music studio and within a few hours "Hidden Waterfall" started to take shape. Finally, there was something worthy of finishing for the next album. That was the start of a very productive and enjoyable time of music making. Most days allowed for a few hours in the studio and as the weeks passed the other "Terra" tracks started to come together.

I'm actually a bit sad to reach the end of this project. Hopefully, the next one will end up being as rewarding.

about

Sayer Sugar Land, Texas

For most of my life, electronic music has been an integral part of my journey. My musical wanderings have gone in many directions over the years, but more recently tend to lean toward electronic sequence based sound-scapes.

My older music, mostly created back in the mp3.com days, tended to be more rhythmic and simple. You can explore the older stuff in the "Sayer - Archives" link below.
